Nippon Express opens new sustainable warehouse

Nippon Express opens new sustainable warehouse

Frasers Property Industrial and Aware Real Estate have celebrated the official opening of Nippon Express’ new 16,926 sqm purpose-built facility at The YARDS industrial estate in Kemps Creek, Western Sydney.

The facility spans 16,926 sqm of warehouse and office space, secured under a seven-year lease, marking a substantial upgrade from Nippon Express’ prior site.

Developed by Frasers Property Industrial and Aware Real Estate, and constructed by CIP Constructions, it targets a 6 Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Key sustainability elements include a 200 kW rooftop solar system, smart energy metering, EV charging stations, rainwater harvesting, and water-efficient fixtures.

Located at 19 Giba Drive in The YARDS — a 77-hectare estate with excellent highway access and proximity to the forthcoming Western Sydney International Airport opening in 2026 — the facility bolsters Nippon Express’ handling of high-tech products and consumer goods.

This move supports broader ambitions, including maritime forwarding expansion to over 1.3 million TEUs annually and multimodal services emphasising sectors like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and automotive.

The YARDS, now over 90 per cent leased with recent tenants like Toshiba, positions Kemps Creek as Western Sydney’s emerging industrial hub.

Nippon Express’ investment reflects Australia’s logistics sector growth, driven by e-commerce and manufacturing resurgence.

The facility’s eco-features align with national sustainability goals, while its scale enhances supply chain resilience amid Asia-Pacific trade surges.

As NX Australia advances, it aims to optimise global client operations through digital platforms and efficient multimodal transport.
