
The Australian Interior Design Awards (AIDA) has revealed its 2025 shortlist, showcasing 195 exceptional projects across residential, commercial, and public sectors.
In its 22nd year, the program continues to set the benchmark for design excellence, celebrating creativity and innovation in Australia’s interior design landscape.
This year’s entries reflect a dynamic industry embracing authenticity, material experimentation, and immersive storytelling.
Notable shortlisted projects include:
- Public Design: Flinders University City Campus (Architectus), The Australian War Memorial New Entrance (Studio SC), and Yarrila Place (BVN).
- Retail Design: Gelato Messina Redfern (Sans-Arc Studio), Vic’s Meat at Chatswood Chase (Platform by Design Office), and Fisher and Paykel Melbourne Experience Centre (Clare Cousins Architects).
- Installation Design: Africa Fashion (National Gallery of Victoria) and Queensland Holocaust Museum (Designteam).
Convened by Geraldine Maher of Maher Design, the 2025 jury features leading practitioners from diverse geographies and disciplines:

- Maria Correia (Gray Puksand, QLD)
- Ben Edwards (Studio Edwards, VIC)
- Will Fung (CO-AP, NSW)
- Peta Heffernan (Liminal Studio, TAS)
- Shona McElroy (Smac Studio, NSW)
- Damien Mulvihill (Design Office, VIC)
- Tamara White (Warren and Mahoney, NSW).
Jurors praised submissions for their “joyful playfulness” in residential spaces and “experiences that amplify the brand’s purpose” in retail environments, underscoring the industry’s evolving priorities.
The winners and commendations will be announced at the gala presentation on 6 June 2025 at Melbourne’s Sofitel, where the Premier Award for Australian Interior Design will also be unveiled.
Supported by partners including Dulux, Laminex, and Roca, the awards highlight collaborations shaping Australia’s design future.
