GRAHAM to build first phase of Leeds' Dyecoats mixed-use project

United Kingdom — Construction firm GRAHAM has been chosen by Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, to lead the first phase of the Dyecoats mixed-use project in Leeds.

The ambitious regeneration initiative aims to transform a 13-acre brownfield site along the River Aire into a vibrant new community.

The initial phase of the Dyecoats project will deliver 434 mixed-tenure homes, comprising 100 affordable rent homes, 138 shared ownership homes, and 196 homes for private sale.

More than 50 per cent of the homes in the overall project will be designated as affordable housing.

The development will also feature a food hall, enhanced public spaces with access to the River Aire, and a new north-south connection across the river, improving connectivity in the area.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the new community will adhere to best practice sustainability requirements, promoting resource efficiency and encouraging a car-free lifestyle with easy pedestrian and cycling access to the city centre.

Work is set to begin on the first three buildings of the Dyecoats development, located on Kirkstall Road, following the approval of the Stage 2 sign-off by the Building Safety Regulator.

The broader vision for the Dyecoats development includes the creation of up to 1,799 homes, contributing significantly to the housing market in Leeds.

GRAHAM managing director Jonathan Hall expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We’re thrilled to partner with Latimer on the landmark Dyecoats scheme, reflecting our shared commitment to creating homes and neighbourhoods that prioritise sustainability and community.”

Hall also highlighted the project’s significance in terms of building safety standards: “This appointment also celebrates Dyecoats being one of the first new build developments to receive Building Safety Act Gateway 2 approval, showcasing our deep understanding of the gateway process to deliver the highest standards of safety and quality in construction.

“This project will play a pivotal role in regenerating the area, and we look forward to bringing Latimer’s vision to life.”

This appointment follows GRAHAM’s recent selection to lead the second stage of the Didcot and surrounding area major infrastructure scheme, further solidifying the company’s position in the UK construction market.
