The final line-up for this year’s Construction Innovation Forum has been announced; promising to be its best since the event was first held in 2010.
The annual forum brings together thought leaders and practitioners from across the world to provide insight into how leading firms are pushing boundaries to deliver ambitious solutions in the building and construction industry.
Executive Manager of the BIM-MEPAUS initiative, Mr Shannon Thomas, was buoyant when discussing the schedule of presenters:
“We are particularly excited about our international keynotes. Not only does it provide a global context for how building and construction is evolving, but it provides a benchmark that I think Australian attendees really get excited about — because we match up well!”
Headlining this year’s forum will be Tyler Goss of Turner Construction Company in the United States – one of the world’s largest construction firms.
“Turner pride themselves on being at the cutting edge of construction innovation”, said Mr Thomas, “which is evident by Tyler’s role within the group as Innovation Development Manager. That’s how seriously they take it”.
Other notable international presentations include:
- Doug Moore from US mechanical giant, McKinstry, who will provide insight into how his firm is increasing the speed of building design and construction, while delivering adaptive buildings that interact with occupants and operators; and
- Jamie Johnston from Bryden Wood in the UK, who brings with him a wealth of experience across a range of high-profile projects (including Heathrow Terminal 5 and the London 2012 Olympic Village), and insights from his time as a member of the UK Government Cabinet Office BIM
Later this year, Mr Thomas himself will deliver a keynote presentation at the annual Autodesk University conference in the US—such is the interest in the BIM-MEPAUS initiative internationally.
“We are receiving enquiries every day from practitioners all over the world who are interested in what the Australian industry is doing with respect to standards. We are genuinely collaborative in this country, and it is something that we can share with the world. It’s very exciting.”
Working with consultants, contractors, suppliers and technology firms, BIM-MEPAUS continue to churn out standards and guidelines for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services.
The BIM-MEPAUS Initiative continues to forge ahead, built on the proven Design to Commissioned As-Built and Design to Fabrication workflows, which allow the final BIM model to be delivered to the client with standardised data that can be used in facility and asset management operations.
“We can’t wait to show industry what else we’ve been up to when we deliver our workshop at the forum in September”.
