Schiavello Group’s $1 billion mixed-use M-City development in Melbourne has been completed, breathing new life into Clayton’s former warehousing district.
Prominently located at 2109-2125 Dandenong Road on the corner of Princess Highway and Blackburn Road, M-City is one of the largest master-planned community single-stage developments undertaken in Victoria to date.
Designed by high-profile architects, The Buchan Group, M-City is an iconic new gateway to Melbourne’s South East growth corridor.
Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex Victoria, said M-City is a vibrant miniature city in itself delivering premium office, residential, retail and hotel accommodation.
“It will quickly become a new lifestyle destination in Clayton.”
Multiplex commenced work on M-City in July 2018 and construction spanned a two-year period with up to 1,100 workers on-site during peak periods.
In an engineering and construction feat, the 30,000 square metre site has a combined built area of over 18 hectares.
According to Multiplex, an industry first was also achieved during the construction of M-City with the utilisation of hollow-core and pre-cast structure to an extent that cannot be compared with any building project of this scale in Australia.
M-City’s residential precinct has seen the construction of four residential buildings ranging from three to 12 levels and comprises a total of 665 apartments in a range of configurations.
A range of exclusive facilities are offered at the towers, including a stunning landscaped rooftop garden with tennis courts and open-air games areas, a swimming pool and spa, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and BBQs with outdoor seating.
M-City also features a 4.5 star international hotel that will be operated by Park Royal. Located on the corner of Dandenong and Blackburn Roads, the building features a distinctive bronze façade and comprises 250 rooms, a restaurant and bar and conference facilities.
In its commercial and retail precinct, M-City has an eight-level commercial office tower providing approximately 14,000 square metres of A-Grade commercial space above a two-level retail podium.
Moreover, the 30,450 square metre retail centre comprises 78 stores, a cinema complex, a medical centre and a childcare centre with a two-level car park providing 2,000 car spaces. The retail centre is set to become an entertainment and lifestyle hub in Clayton, and will also offer a diverse range of cafes and dining options.
