Leading global developer Gamuda Land has commenced construction on its highly anticipated $90 million Fareham project on St Kilda Road, marking a significant milestone for sustainable apartment living in Melbourne.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 24 May 2024, with representatives from the City of Port Phillip in attendance, including Cr Marcus Pearl, Cr Peter Martin, and Cr Christina Sirakoff.
Gamuda Land has appointed the family-owned construction firm Markscon to bring the award-winning design by BayleyWard architects to life.
Fareham will set a new benchmark for sustainable living in the area, delivering 73 apartments and creating approximately 130 jobs throughout the project’s duration, providing a boost to the local economy.
Designed to achieve a minimum 7.5 Star NatHERS rating, Fareham will be powered by an embedded network providing 100 per cent renewable energy, including rooftop solar photovoltaic panels.
The development will also feature EV charging capabilities, secure bike parks, and an onsite bicycle workshop, encouraging residents to adopt greener travel arrangements.
Reaching 16 levels high, Fareham will offer exceptional bay views, with a maximum of six apartments per floor.
Residents will have access to a communal garden on level one, a well-being room on level two, and a communal rooftop on level 15.
Gamuda Land’s global DNA of building in harmony with nature is woven throughout the design, with Fareham featuring extensive landscaping and greenery by Loci Design Collection.
This commitment to sustainability and quality aligns with Markscon’s values, as expressed by Managing Director John Marks, who stated: “I commend Gamuda for their exceptional standards and contributions to the global real estate market, and particularly here in Australia.
“Their unwavering commitment to quality and sustainable development resonates deeply with our values at Markscon, making our collaboration on the Fareham project at 95 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, an inspiring partnership.”
Gamuda Land General Manager Jarrod Tai emphasised Markscon’s appointment due to their stellar track record and capability to self-perform construction of critical elements, stating: “Markscon has helped deliver some of Melbourne’s most boundary-pushing projects, including two Nightingale projects.
“Both Markscon and Gamuda share a vision of creating meaningful and sustainable urban environments.”
Fareham is due for completion in 2026.
