Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has announced the appointment of Michael Kilgariff as its new CEO, effective from 6 May 2024.
George Agriogiannis, Chair of CCAA, expressed confidence in Kilgariff’s ability to lead the organisation during a critical period of renewal and transformation.
CCAA serves as the peak body for the heavy construction materials industry in Australia, representing members engaged in cement manufacturing and distribution, concrete batching, quarrying, and sand and gravel extraction.
The industry plays a vital role in supporting Australia’s infrastructure and building sector, generating approximately $15 billion in annual revenues and employing 30,000 Australians directly, with an additional 80,000 jobs indirectly.
Kilgariff brings more than 20 years of industry association experience to his new role, having served as CEO of Roads Australia and the Australian Logistics Council.
His expertise spans infrastructure, transport, logistics, and energy, with a strong focus on policy development and advocacy at both the federal and state levels.
“Michael Kilgariff’s appointment comes at a critical time for CCAA as it goes through a process of renewal and transformation.
“His extensive industry knowledge and proven leadership skills make him the ideal candidate to steer CCAA through the challenges facing the infrastructure and building sectors,” said Agriogiannis.
Kilgariff expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead CCAA and emphasised his commitment to working closely with the board, members, and industry stakeholders to ensure the industry’s sustainability and recognition for its economic and social contributions.
He also praised the efforts of Jason Kuchel, who served as Interim CEO during the recruitment process, for his outstanding leadership.
The CCAA Board and members welcomed Kilgariff’s appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to drive positive change and navigate the industry through its current challenges.
