Stockland commences construction on Aura Town Centre

Stockland commences construction on Aura Town Centre

Stockland has officially commenced construction on the Aura Town Centre, a major new retail, dining and entertainment destination within its flagship masterplanned community on the Sunshine Coast.

The milestone marks another step forward in the continuing evolution of Aura, which is set to become home to more than 50,000 residents over the next two decades.

Spanning approximately 16,300 square metres of retail and commercial floor space across two levels, the first stage of the Aura Town Centre will feature two supermarkets, two mini-majors, around 55 specialty retailers and kiosks, and three non-retail tenancies for services such as health and wellness.

Developed, owned and managed by Stockland and being built by FDC Construction & Fitout, the centre is expected to open in late 2027.

Designed as a vibrant and accessible community hub, the new precinct will be seamlessly connected to the 5.3-hectare Aura Parklands (a leisure destination featuring a swimming lagoon, BBQ and picnic areas, and event spaces currently under construction) and will sit adjacent to the upcoming Aura Hotel by the Comiskey Group.

Stockland Executive General Manager, Town Centres, Marco Ettorre, said the project will serve as a key anchor for the region’s continued growth.

“Today marks an important milestone for both our retail business and the Aura community, with construction now underway on the new Aura Town Centre,” said Ettorre.

“The project showcases the strength of Stockland’s diversified business, as we work with our residential teams and partner with industry, government, and tenants, to deliver everyday essentials close to home.

“More than that, we’re creating the heart for a growing community, with the Town Centre underpinning the 100-hectare Aura City Centre and bringing together parklands, open space, retail, dining, and entertainment.”

Member for Caloundra, Kendall Morton MP, also praised the project as a major step forward for local infrastructure and jobs.

“This is an exciting milestone for Aura and the wider Caloundra region,” said Morton.

“As our community continues to grow, it’s essential that infrastructure, services and local job opportunities grow with it.

“Importantly, this development will help strengthen Aura as a connected and vibrant community hub, a place where families can shop, meet, work and enjoy quality open spaces all in one location.”

Over the next 20 years, Aura is projected to deliver around 20,000 homes and generate more than 15,000 jobs, with the Aura Town Centre at the heart of the Sunshine Coast’s rapid expansion.
