Osborne Park Hospital expansion officially underway

Osborne Park Hospital expansion officially underway

Construction has officially commenced on the major expansion of Osborne Park Hospital, marking a significant milestone in Western Australia’s $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital Project.

The development represents a major boost to hospital infrastructure in Perth’s northern suburbs, delivering a new family birthing centre, expanded maternity services, and upgraded clinical facilities for families across the region.

Site clearing, bulk earthworks, piling works, construction of structural cores and assembly of the first tower crane will roll out over the next six months.

The project’s main clinical building will feature a six-storey architectural design that integrates functionality with patient-centred care.

The new facility will provide expanded women and newborn inpatient units, a dedicated family birth centre, obstetrics theatres, pharmacy and outpatient clinics, alongside a mother baby unit to support mental health for expectant and new mothers.

Additionally, a four-level support services building will be constructed to house essential campus operations, including pathology and sterilisation services.

The Osborne Park Hospital expansion forms a key component of the New Women and Babies Hospital Project, which will also see a brand-new tertiary hospital built in Murdoch and two multi-deck car parks delivering more than 2,500 bays within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct.

Construction across all sites forms part of the state government’s record $4.9 billion investment in health infrastructure, the largest program of its kind ever undertaken in the state.

The Osborne Park Hospital expansion is expected to be completed in 2029.
