Multiplex has been named preferred contractor for the major construction works at the transformational Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Integrated Resort Development.
The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium (DBC) – a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its Hong Kong-based partners, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is set to transform the CBD with four new luxury hotels, over 50 new bars and restaurants, 2,000 residential apartments and the equivalent of 12 football fields of public space when the state-of-the-art precinct is complete.
Multiplex’s appointment by DBC follows a comprehensive tender process and represents a significant milestone in the delivery of the overall project.
DBC Project Director, Simon Crooks said the contract for major construction works at the development still requires finalisation and remains subject to DBC board approval and State Government endorsement.
“The works that Multiplex will deliver include the shell and core works covering the basement, base services, tower structures and the façade of the main integrated resort,” Mr Crooks detailed.
“It includes the integrated resort high-rise tower shells ready for later fit-out works, the podium level nestled between the towers and the iconic Sky Deck that will sit 100 metres above street level.”
Furthermore, Multiplex would construct a five level basement car park as well as the resort back-of-house facilities including kitchen, laundry, staff cafeteria, amenities and a central energy plant.
In total, the contract would include approximately 370,000 square metres of floor area and 105,000 square metres of energy efficient glazed façade.
“The contract is in keeping with our total project cost budget,” said Mr Crooks.
“The next step will be the public confirmation of the contract signing after the State Government has completed its review process.”
Works are anticipated to commence mid-2019, with construction works expected to reach George Street level in late-2020.
