Designed by Technē Architecture + Interior Design, the recently opened Kirra Beach Hotel and Kirra Beach House have transformed the Southern Gold Coast’s premier surf break spot into a vibrant hospitality destination.
The Stage 1 completion of the $85 million Kirra Point Precinct, encompassing a sold-out residential tower alongside the two distinct yet complementary venues, sets the foundation for the client’s vision of a highly considered mixed-use development that preserves Kirra’s coastal lifestyle while fostering community and economic growth.
According to the latest Regional Movers Index, the Gold Coast experienced the second-largest net inflow from capital cities at 9.5 per cent, cementing its appeal as a desirable location.
Well-designed food and beverage spaces can profoundly impact fostering a sense of community and driving economic development by serving as gathering spaces for social interaction and shared experiences.
Technē’s co-founding director, Justin Northrop, highlights the practice’s understanding of food and beverage design aligned with the development’s needs and clientele.
“When we invest in considered F&B design that delivers on functionality, efficiency and human connection, these venues can have a great impact on placemaking and fuel economic development holistically throughout a region,” said Northrop.
The 1300 square metre Kirra Beach Hotel, a vibrant family-friendly bistro, holds a storied legacy as the community’s centrepiece, reflecting Kirra’s relaxed and friendly hospitality.
Technē associate Bianca Baldi notes the surf culture-related stylings, coastal-inspired colour palette, and layered materiality create a nostalgic yet welcoming atmosphere.
The design maximises connection to external areas like the beer garden and terrace while celebrating Kirra’s surf culture with iconic memorabilia adorning the walls.
Kirra Beach House, an elevated 1200 sqm offering above the hotel, exudes timeless and playful sophistication with a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, bars, and thoughtfully designed event spaces.
The expansive terrace hosts beach-style cabanas, lounge areas, and a range of seating options, while the light-filled spaces frame unobstructed ocean views complemented by a refined palette of deep forest greens, yellows, and neutral tones.
KTQ Group’s Development Director, Jeremy Holmes, emphasises the importance of thoughtful hospitality design in creating a vibrant, cohesive community within the Kirra Point Precinct.
“We decided to work with Technē on this project as they understand how food and beverage spaces can foster social connection, cultural exchange, and a sense of place that drives broader economic growth for the region,” said Holmes.
The integrated design practice’s completion of the two venues pays homage to Kirra’s coastal locale, laidback lifestyle, and robust character through enriching and multi-functional spaces.
