Hyatt Centric Hotel

Construction company Hickory has just completed Australia’s first Hyatt Centric Hotel, a $150 million Little Group development located at 9-27 Downie Street, Melbourne.

Designed by Architectus, with interiors by Hecker Guthrie, Hyatt Centric Melbourne consists of a six-level podium, backed by a 20-storey glass tower. The hotel features 278 contemporary guest rooms across 26 levels.

The state-of-the-art hotel exudes a cosmopolitan feel and is a reflection of Melbourne’s vibrant street culture. The spacious guest rooms have been designed with clean, uncomplicated lines and a soft colour palette, and incorporate locally inspired design elements that are intended to reflect the city’s heritage and urban landscape.

Hyatt Centric Melbourne features a spectacular rooftop bar and restaurant on the 25th floor, which offers a list of hand-crafted signature cocktails and panoramic views of the Yarra River and the city skyline. Guests can enjoy locally sourced Mediterranean cuisine at the hotel’s exclusive TOMA restaurant or grab a coffee from the Allie Lane café, located in the hotel’s lobby.

Additional guest features include spacious function rooms on level 5 and level 6, a gym, lap pool and steam room.

A unique feature of the hotel is its in-built converged electrical network, which is designed to produce an exceptional user experience for guests. Hotel staff will be able to control different ‘modes’, including cleaning modes where all the lights are bright and ambience modes where the lights are dimmed for when a guest first enters the room. This converged network also allows hotel staff to be immediately alerted to required maintenance, preventing interruptions to the guest experience.

Located at the corner of Downie Street and Flinders Lane, Hyatt Centric Melbourne will boast convenient access to Southern Cross Station, the Docklands and Southbank precincts, and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Hyatt Centric Melbourne is yet another addition to the Hyatt Centric hotel series, with developments recently launched in Hobart and Tokyo. It will open to the public for bookings from the 1st of December 2021.

George Abraham, Managing Director at Hickory said Hyatt Centric Melbourne will be a perfect launchpad for guests to explore everything Melbourne has to offer.

“We are proud to bring to life the exclusive Hyatt Centric Hotels brand to Australia for the very first time.”
