Enex redefines Perth CBD with $40m redevelopment

28 Jul, 2025
Enex redefines Perth CBD with $40 million

Enex has officially opened its doors as Perth’s first urban-commercial village following a $40 million transformation, marking a new era for the Perth CBD.

Owned by ISPT, the landmark redevelopment showcases two distinct new spaces — the City Canteen and Central Lounge — designed to blend retail and functional amenities, offering a mixed-use environment that seats over 400 people and creates a unique central business district experience.

The City Canteen features seven food and beverage venues, including Soul Origin, Hi Thai, CP Curry House, Sushia, and Mi Shanghai, which will open at launch to establish a vibrant lunchtime dining precinct.

This space activates the Hay Street Mall entrance and reconnects the retail area with the city’s core business strip through a light-filled glass façade on St Georges Terrace.

Complementing the dynamic City Canteen is the Central Lounge, a premium breakout space with abundant casual seating where visitors can relax and connect, seamlessly linking Enex’s retail and dining hubs.

To celebrate the opening, Enex will host new era festivities on July 3-4, featuring free coffee at Soul Origin, pop-up giveaways with over $30,000 in prizes, and a chance to win free lunch for a year at Enex.

Sam Curry, Head of Portfolio (Retail) at ISPT, stated: “We are thrilled to unveil the new Enex experience, which has been transformed to deliver Perth’s first urban-commercial village.

“This $40 million injection into revitalising Perth’s CBD aims to cater to the wants and needs of office workers and leisure visitors, with contemporary modern amenity and a curated retail mix of premium fashion and convenience.”

“Through this significant transformation we hope to encourage visitation into Perth CBD, inviting visitors to linger longer within two captivating spaces — our City Canteen and Central Lounge — providing a mixed-use space that reimagines the balance between work and life,” Curry added.

The redevelopment also included refurbishment of the adjoining A Grade office tower at 100 St Georges Terrace, which now seamlessly connects to Enex via a new lobby lift, enhancing accessibility for building residents.

Designed by Woods Bagot and built by ADCO Construction, the 18-month project began in late 2023.

The transformed Enex precinct blends hospitality, premium fashion, convenience retail, and office spaces under one roof, featuring over 30 retailers such as Woolworths, Gorman, Aesop, and Decjuba.

ISPT’s investment in Enex follows the successful Forrest Chase redevelopment in 2019.
