Comme Prahran redefines sustainable urban wellness living

Comme Prahran redefines sustainable urban wellness living

Set to redefine urban living opposite the iconic Prahran Market, Comme Prahran is a first-of-its-kind residential development that places wellness, design, and sustainability at the core of its architecture.

Developed by Leeka in collaboration with award-winning practice Cera Stribley, the project brings together architectural heritage and cutting-edge building design to create a sanctuary that nurtures both the individual and the community.

Occupying a prominent site at 182–194 Commercial Road, the mixed-use development features 32 boutique residences conceived not only as homes, but as holistic wellness spaces that respond to the physical, mental, social, and environmental rhythms of modern life.

Every design choice — from material selection to form and function — reflects the project’s purpose of encouraging healthier living and a more meaningful connection to place.

Architecturally, Comme Prahran unites refined contemporary form with the careful restoration of an Edwardian-era landmark, celebrating the area’s cultural and historical legacy.

The adaptive reuse of the original structure preserves its distinct architectural character, integrating it within a contemporary design language defined by lightness, balance, and biophilic principles.

Soft, light-toned facades reduce heat absorption and contribute to the building’s thermal comfort, while double glazing and natural ventilation enhance efficiency and acoustic ease for residents.

Inside, the architecture supports a seamless flow between spaces, guided by abundant natural light and open-plan layouts compliant with Better Apartment Design Standards.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing blurs boundaries between indoors and outdoors, nurturing a daily connection with natural light — a design decision that not only enhances mental wellbeing but also reduces reliance on artificial illumination.

Carefully chosen finishes, including natural stone, timber floors, and low-VOC paints, reinforce a calm and toxin-free environment.

At the building’s heart lies a rooftop Zen garden designed by Plume Landscape Architects—a green retreat that heightens the senses through thoughtful landscaping.

Edible herb walls, reflexology paths, calming botanicals, and tranquil water features transform the rooftop into a restorative sanctuary above the vibrancy of Prahran’s streets.

This elevated green space balances the built form with nature, showcasing how landscape design can support reflection, rest, and community gathering.

Every detail in Comme Prahran speaks to the integration of design and lifestyle.

Optional circadian lighting systems, steam showers, healthy cooking appliances, and real-time air purification technology personalise each residence, blending spatial architecture with wellness science.

Kitchens offer filtered and sparkling water taps, while spa-style bathrooms encourage restorative rituals with heated floors, rainfall showers, and night-sensing lighting.

Sustainability anchors the architectural approach.

The building achieves a 7-star energy rating, is entirely gas-free and is fitted with EV charging capabilities and water-efficient landscaping supported by rainwater harvesting.

Natural ventilation, energy-efficient glazing, and a soft, neutral façade reduce energy demand and preserve comfort year-round.

Collectively, these features express a responsible architectural philosophy that unites environmental performance with aesthetic restraint.

Beyond its private spaces, Comme Prahran upholds the spirit of connection. Ground-floor retail and hospitality outlets activate the streetscape, while communal spaces encourage residents to interact and recharge.

A digital concierge app, smart parcel lockers, and secure bike storage modernise convenience without compromising serenity, demonstrating how technology and architecture can harmonise rather than compete.

Comme Prahran’s gallery-style lobby ties every element together — a calm threshold defined by circadian-inspired lighting and curated art moments that echo through the building’s public zones.

As Cera Stribley co-founder Domenic Cerantonio stated: “The first thing you notice is the light. Natural light floods the living spaces, casting a soft glow that instantly lifts your spirits.

“It’s as if the outside world melts away, and you’re cocooned in a peaceful oasis.”
