A major construction milestone has been reached by Sphere Developments at its new residential landmark tower in Blacktown in western Sydney, with the 24-level Altitude topping out.
The topping out was celebrated with an on-site ceremony held on the rooftop on December 7, 2017 attended by the Mayor of Blacktown City Stephen Bali.
Senior executives from a range of key contractors also attended including Rockform, Oxford Electrical, ProPlumb, SRG, Brae Group, Bright Star Interior, Niaz Kitchens, Dynatech, Extinguished Fire, Façade Concepts and RMT Tiling.
A 14-foot fir tree was lifted by crane onto the rooftop, over 70 metres above street level, as part of the ceremony.
With the final concrete pour of the roof-top, a total of some 4,500 cubic metres of concrete and over 700 tonnes of steel has been used in the tower. Construction has been confirmed as on track for completion in March, 2018 with the first residents scheduled to move in during April, 2018.
“Reaching this milestone represents a lot of hard work and collaboration from our team and sub-contractors. Topping Out before Christmas means we are on track for completion next March and Altitude Tower’s new residents will move in shortly after”, said Ben Suttor, Director of Sphere Developments.
Altitude is an iconic $60 million tower prominently located on the corner of Second and Boys Avenues that has set a new benchmark for residential development in Western Sydney.
“We are excited to be one step closer to delivering Altitude and our vision to Blacktown. Altitude is the first premium residential tower in Blacktown and will bring elements of city living to Sydney’s West”, said Rob Cassab, Director of Sphere Developments.
According to Blacktown City Council, Altitude has played a pivotal role in the overall transformation of the Blacktown CBD and will be the new gateway to the precinct north of the train station.
“Altitude Tower marks the beginning of a new era of high rise development in Blacktown City,” the Mayor of Blacktown City, Stephen Bali said.
“Altitude Tower is the first of many high-rise buildings that will change the face of Blacktown.
