Crown Resorts Limited and its joint venture partner, Schiavello Group have received approval to delevel the Queensbridge Hotel Tower located in Melbourn’es Southbank, to be known as One Queensbridge.
Crown Melbourne’s new six-star hotel and 90-storey tower is designed by London-based architectural firm Wilkinson Eyre who will be working with Australian architecture practice Architectus as the Executive Architect on the project.
Architectus is responsible for design development and delivery of the $2 billion hotel and apartment complex to translate the building’s international design into a local context.
Standing at a staggering 323 metres tall, the development of the tower will also see the regeneration of the public space surrounding it, including a $25 million upgrade to Queensbridge Square, $15 million for the Sandbridge Rail Bridge, and landscaping and improvements on Southbank Boulevard. The tower itself will offer 388 rooms in a six star hotel and 708 residential apartments.
This project is one of true state significance and will result in Melbourne becoming home to Australia’s tallest tower.
A key component of the design includes a new sculptural pedestrian link that will provide hotel guests with all-weather access to the lobby of the new hotel to the Crown Melbourne integrated resort.
As a condition of the approval, Crown and Schiavello have also afreed to invest up to $100 million in significant tourism and public realm amenities.
