Scape Australia, the country’s largest owner and operator of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), has announced the addition of two new properties to its portfolio in Melbourne’s CBD.
The expansion solidifies Scape’s position in the market and demonstrates its commitment to providing diverse living options for students in Australia.
The newly acquired properties, Journal Uni Place at 18 Leicester St, Carlton, and Journal Central at 502 Swanston Street, Carlton, will be rebranded under the Scape name.
This acquisition brings Scape’s total number of buildings to 38 nationally, with an additional 10 under development.
Anouk Darling, CEO of Scape Australia, emphasised the significance of this expansion: “This recent transition means that more students will now be able to experience the Scape offering, providing residents not just a room but a strong community, incredible experiences, care for their health and mental wellbeing, a focus on safety and security, ample opportunities for employment and career networking, and most importantly, ways to enjoy the pivotal years in each student’s life.”
The move aligns with Scape Australia’s ambitious goal to become the “Earth’s Best Living Company”, focusing on creating better living experiences for both people and the planet.
By 2025, Scape aims to house 22,000 students across its expanding operations.
Despite the current challenging rental climate, both new properties are nearing full occupancy ahead of Semester 2.
Scape remains committed to supporting students in Australia by continuously providing quality accommodation options.
Scape’s expansion strategy is bolstered by its strong sustainability credentials and social responsibility focus, which have attracted global investment and partnerships.
The company’s approach aims to cater to evolving student needs and priorities.
