Buxton Real Estate Group has made a significant move into Bendigo’s property market, unveiling its latest office in a strategic expansion across Victoria.
The directors leading the charge — Matt Leonard, Peter Ladd, and Hugh Norris — bring a wealth of expertise and a fresh approach to the local real estate scene.
Ladd, an experienced certified public accountant specialising in enterprise resource planning applications and property development, Norris, known for his franchising and retail background and co-creator of Remsuite CRM, and Leonard, with over 20 years of specialised experience in residential and commercial real estate.
Buxton Bendigo Principal Matt Leonard said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce Buxton’s renowned services and industry-leading standards to the Bendigo community. Bendigo is a vibrant and forward-thinking regional city, with a population of over 120,000, offering diverse employment opportunities and a unique, bustling arts, and culinary scene. It’s a real privilege to be part of this dynamic community, particularly with Bendigo earning recognition as the best regional town in Australia this month.”
The expansion into Bendigo comes at a pivotal time, with an increasing number of professionals and families relocating to the area post-COVID, drawn by the city’s appeal as a desirable “tree-change” destination. Complemented by excellent schools, healthcare facilities, sporting amenities, and diverse cultural offerings.
Leonard said: “Bendigo typically follows the capital growth patterns seen in Geelong and Ballarat. With the City of Greater Bendigo’s population forecasted to reach 128,768 by 2024 and grow to 155,175 by 2036, it’s evident that the real estate sector holds significant potential for growth.
“Prices in Bendigo tend to remain stable, with less fluctuation compared to other areas. Instead of experiencing sharp declines after a growth cycle, prices here tend to hold steady for longer periods.”
“We have identified a gap and opportunity within the real estate sector, with longstanding companies losing market share while new entrants swiftly establish themselves.”
This announcement follows a highly successful year for Buxton, which recorded 4,465 property transactions between October and December 2023, reflecting a 20 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
Currently, with a network of over 500 real estate professionals and managing a total of 16,000 properties, Buxton is set up for further growth and success in the Bendigo market.
Buxton Real Estate CEO Marcus Williams said: “Expansion into other areas of Victoria is firmly on our agenda. We’re actively working on strategies and plans to open more offices, aiming to better serve communities throughout the region.”
