Finalists announced for the 2025 Australian Construction Achievement Award



The Australian Constructors Association and Engineers Australia have unveiled the seven finalists for the prestigious 2025 Australian Construction Achievement Award (ACAA), recognising excellence in construction and engineering.

This year marks a record number of finalists, showcasing projects that highlight innovation, sustainability, and community impact.

Jon Davies, CEO of the Australian Constructors Association, emphasised the significance of this year’s finalists.

“These projects showcase smarter, more sustainable ways to deliver infrastructure while prioritising worker wellbeing, diversity, and skills development,” he said.

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew AO added that the finalists exemplify how engineering ingenuity can drive transformational projects that connect and strengthen communities.

The 2025 Finalists

  1. METRONET Morley – Ellenbrook Line (Perth, WA)Delivered by Laing O’Rourke and the Public Transport Authority, this project transformed Perth’s northeast corridor with 21 kilometers of new rail, five stations, and significant infrastructure upgrades.
  2. New Bridgewater Bridge (Hobart, TAS)Constructed by McConnell Dowell Constructors, this project is Tasmania’s largest transport infrastructure initiative, enhancing connectivity with a 1.2-kilometre bridge and improved interchanges.
  3. Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project (Pakenham, VIC)Led by the North Western Program Alliance, this project removed three congested level crossings and introduced a two-kilometre elevated rail viaduct alongside station upgrades.
  4. South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication Project (South Geelong, VIC)Delivered by DT Infrastructure Pty Ltd as part of the Djilang Alliance, this project improved safety and reliability with track duplication and station enhancements.
  5. Sydney Gateway Stage 1 and 3 (Sydney, NSW)A joint venture by John Holland and Seymour Whyte Constructions, this project created a vital motorway link between Sydney Airport and WestConnex with 19 bridges and over five kilometres of road.
  6. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment (Woodville, SA)Built Environs Pty Ltd delivered Australia’s first all-electric 6-star public healthcare building featuring state-of-the-art facilities and sustainable design.
  7. Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project (Perth, WA)Executed by the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance, this project removed level crossings and introduced elevated rail sections with extensive community-focused enhancements.

The winner will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner on August 6, 2025, at The Star Hotel in Brisbane during the Foundations and Frontiers forum (FF25).

The ACAA continues to highlight projects that push boundaries in construction excellence while fostering a more progressive industry.
