WorkSafe is urging Victorians who are making workplace safety a priority, that ‘it’s not too late to enter the 30th Annual WorkSafe Awards’. Entries have been extended to close June 3rd, and finalists will be announced on the 24 August.
The awards ceremony is held to commemorate the innovative ways Victorian businesses and their workers address health and safety issues at work. The awards also commemorate people to return to work after an injury. Nominations are still open to all Victorian-based employers and workers, and entrants may nominate themselves or another person.
“Reducing workplace fatalities and injuries is a top priority for WorkSafe and it is important that we recognise and honour those in the community who share our commitment,” said WorkSafe Chief Executive Clare Amies.
“We want them to share their passion, their enthusiasm and solutions with WorkSafe so we can inspire others to make workplace health and safety their priority,” she said in a statement.
The categories for 2018 WorkSafe Awards are:
- Health and Safety Invention of the Year
- OHS Achievement
- Best Solution to a Specific Workplace Health and Safety Issue
- Best Solution to a Manual Handling Issue
- Health and Safety Representative of the Year
- Commitment to Workplace Health and Wellbeing
- Worker Return to Work Achievement
- Leading Return to Work Practice by Employer

After entry submission, all admissions will be subjected to a thorough eligibility check, expert review before validation and assessment process. Following this, the winners of the 2018 WorkSafe Awards will then be announced at a Gala Dinner in Melbourne, during Health and Safety Month in October 2018.
