Building Design Queensland (BDQ)

25 Jul, 2025

Building Design Queensland (BDQ) is the peak body representing building designers across Queensland. We champion our profession and support our members through industry recognition, professional development, education, and business opportunities.

Founded in 1990, BDQ led the way in establishing building design as a recognised profession in Australia. Our advocacy efforts secured the nation’s first official building design licence with the Queensland Government in 1993 — a milestone that set the standard for the industry in Australia.

Today, BDQ is an independent and forward-thinking organisation. We collaborate with government and national industry bodies to raise the profile of building designers and strengthen their influence across the Australian built environment.

We are proud to be Queensland-first. Together with our members, we help shape communities that are more innovative, more liveable, and more sustainable — for the benefit of all Queenslanders.
