WA government invests $12 million in growing primary school

The Western Australian government will invest $12 million in new facilities for Highgate Primary School. Education Minister Tony Buti announced that the creative enhancements will include six general learning classrooms for 160 students, a multi-purpose teaching area, teacher amenities, and new bathrooms for students and staff. The modular building will be constructed in parts offsite, reducing on-site construction time and associated disruption to the school. Art exhibitions and small-scale community events will be able to share a unique part of the state’s history with the City of Sydney restoring the interior of one of the brick kilns at Sydney Park. The Sydney Council last night voted to approve the revised scope of the transformative works at the site, which will also improve park access, stabilise the structures and create a more welcoming, publicly accessible space. Patients at Ipswich Hospital are one step closer to improved healthcare, with the $710 million expansion project progressing to Stage 2. This stage will see the construction of a purpose-built, multi-story acute services building at Ipswich Hospital. The building will house 200 new beds, a new and expanded emergency department, additional operating theatres, a satellite medical imaging service, a central sterilisation service, back-of-house services, and shell spaces for future development.
