Wellness-focused Prahran development Comme Prahran approved

Green light has been given for a new wellness-centred mixed-use project in Prahran, set to deliver a rare residential and lifestyle opportunity directly opposite the historic Prahran Market.

Developer Leeka has secured planning approval for its highly anticipated development at 182–194 Commercial Road, on the corner of Izett Street, which will transform the site into a vibrant community hub with residences, retail, dining, and public amenity.

The project, to be known as Comme Prahran, has been designed by leading architecture practice Cera Stribley.

The eight-level development will integrate heritage and modern architecture, featuring 32 residences that highlight wellness-focused living while complementing the suburb’s cultural character.

“Prahran has long been a cosmopolitan hub, known for its vibrant dining, retail and social life alongside a strong community spirit.

“Its connection to the CBD, green spaces and public transport makes it a natural choice for people seeking both convenience and culture.

“We’re proud to play a role in this neighbourhood’s next chapter, particularly on such a landmark site opposite Prahran Market,” said Leeka Director Chek Ming Cheng.

He added: “Comme Prahran will create a contemporary place with a timeless character, blending heritage and modern design to foster creativity and inclusivity.

“With Cera Stribley’s deep understanding of the suburb’s urban fabric, we believe the project will resonate with people who value both Prahran’s cultural richness and the quality of design and amenities on offer.”

The development incorporates the existing Edwardian-era retail building on the site, preserving its interwar Old English style and seamlessly weaving it into the contemporary design.

The residences will range from one to four bedrooms, including a rare full-floor penthouse offering panoramic city views.

Apartments will be designed with abundant natural light, cross-ventilation, and access to green communal spaces, with shared gardens and a public art mural connecting the project to the local community.

Cera Stribley Managing Principal Domenic Cerantonio said the design brief presented a unique opportunity.

“What makes this brief special is its focus on creating a vibrant, integrated community hub that celebrates Prahran’s past while embracing its future.

“As a firm with deep roots in Prahran, this project was particularly meaningful to us, and we are excited to work alongside Leeka to bring their vision to life.”

Comme Prahran also aims to highlight themes of health and wellbeing, sustainability, art, and technology, with further details on specific offerings to be revealed closer to completion.

For Leeka, this marks another high-profile project in the Stonnington area, following the recent launch of ‘Avoca’ in South Yarra, a boutique collection of five whole-floor residences and one standalone home delivered in partnership with Prime Edition.
