Reddam House North Shore presents a new era in urban education

Reddam House North Shore opened its doors on February 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in urban education.

The school welcomed nearly 500 students to its state-of-the-art learning environment, housed in the iconic Harry Seidler-designed Simsmetal House in North Sydney.

The school’s inaugural year enrollment reached capacity, reflecting the high demand for premium private education in Sydney’s northern suburbs.

With projections for continued growth, Reddam House North Shore is set to accommodate up to 1,350 students in the coming years, establishing itself as a premier educational hub for the region.

This transformative project was realised through a partnership between Built and AJC Architects.

The partnership ensured the seamless conversion of the heritage site into a cutting-edge vertical campus, blending modern educational requirements with the building’s architectural legacy.

Jono Cottee, Built Development Director, emphasised the project’s success in repurposing the historic building.

“By leveraging our unique capability as both developer and builder, we’re proud to have given new life to this heritage asset and transforming it into an innovative, purpose-built education facility that matches Reddam House’s forward-thinking vision,” he stated.

Reddam House North Shore redefines urban learning by integrating innovative design with Reddam’s educational philosophy.

The school fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in a dynamic setting that prepares students for future challenges.

The ‘urban vertical school’ features:

  • Over 9,000 square metres of floor space with science labs, libraries, an auditorium, and fully equipped arts and performance studios
  • A dedicated VR classroom with Inspired Metaverse technology
  • Outdoor terraces and a rooftop area offering Sydney Harbour views
  • A newly uncovered modernist art wall, part of a heritage trail celebrating the building’s history

Principals Dave and Dee Pitcairn are at the helm of this innovative institution.

“This school is more than just a building; it’s a community of students, parents, and educators united by a shared vision to inspire greatness in every child,” they commented.

Glenn Andrew, Asia-Pacific CEO of Inspired Education, added: “Reddam House North Shore shows our commitment to expand Reddam’s success story and meet a growing demand for world-class, co-ed, and independent education in Australia.”

With its unique blend of heritage preservation and cutting-edge educational facilities, Reddam House North Shore is poised to make a significant impact on Sydney’s educational landscape, offering students an unparalleled learning experience in a truly inspiring environment.
