Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct advances

The detailed design development of the Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct has taken a significant step forward with the awarding of a new contract.

An alliance comprising Western Australian firms Seymour Whyte, Civmec, and Aurecon has been selected to work closely with the Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery to progress the planning and detailed design of the precinct.

This strong local design and construction team will integrate valuable ideas and feedback gathered during recent community consultations and stakeholder engagement sessions.

The consortium brings together internationally renowned architects, specialist urban designers, and geotechnical experts.

They have previously delivered some of Western Australia’s most iconic infrastructure projects, including the recently completed Boorloo Bridge.

The precinct at Burswood is a key election commitment aimed at unlocking the site’s full potential for sport and recreation.

It will create a multipurpose entertainment precinct designed to benefit the local community and regular park users while boosting the state’s capacity to host a diverse range of arts, cultural, and sporting events.

Construction of the precinct is expected to be completed by 2027.

As the design process progresses, further opportunities for community and stakeholder input will be made available.

Interested parties are encouraged to register for project updates via the official project website.

Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti commented on the contract announcement: “This is an iconic project that will see the Burswood precinct realise its full potential, delivering significant economic benefits for the state, along with quality public infrastructure for the local and wider community.

“The alliance team we’re bringing on board to deliver this project are behind some of the most iconic infrastructure projects we’ve seen in this state, including the recently completed Boorloo Bridge.

“With a team of internationally renowned architects, specialist urban designers and geotechnical experts, I am expecting the design of the new Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct will be incredible.”

Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier Daniel Pastorelli also highlighted the importance of community involvement: “The alliance team will incorporate ideas and suggestions from community members and stakeholders as we develop the designs for this exciting project.

“As government lead for the project, I will ensure there is more opportunities for community input as we progress through the design stages.”

The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct is poised to become a landmark facility, enhancing both the cultural and recreational offerings of Perth while driving economic growth.
