NXT TEC. secures building permit for sustainable hotel in Perth

Western Australian building technology company NXT TEC. has achieved a significant milestone by securing a building permit for the Wyndham LUX Perth Hotel, set to revolutionise the construction industry with its innovative and sustainable approach.

The five-star Wyndham LUX Perth Hotel, located just six kilometres from Perth’s CBD, will be the first of its kind to utilise the NXT® Building System.

This groundbreaking approach promises to deliver the luxury hotel in a mere 12 months from the start of construction, showcasing the efficiency and versatility of NXT TEC.’s revolutionary building technologies.

The hotel’s construction will feature several patented technologies that form the core of the NXT® Building System:

  • NXT® Spacedeck: A globally patented steel housing structure that lightens and strengthens floor slabs
  • NXT® Beams: Thin beams that reduce vertical space wastage and allow for additional building levels
  • NXT® Bathroom Pod: Fully prefabricated and fitted bathrooms ready for onsite installation

These components will be manufactured locally and assembled onsite, significantly reducing build time, energy consumption, and waste production without compromising on quality.

In a remarkable achievement, the Wyndham LUX Perth Hotel has become the world’s first hotel to be awarded an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

This certification, obtained in 2018, demonstrates NXT TEC.’s commitment to transparency and sustainability in the construction industry.

Natasha Di Ciano, Chairman and Managing Director of NXT TEC., expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating: “As a pioneering technology company, our mission is to transform the building industry by pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

“It is a pleasure to partner with Wyndham Group in bringing this exceptional luxury hotel to Perth, and we look forward to delivering this landmark project with the speed and precision of our innovative NXT® Building System.”

The NXT® Building System’s approach to construction aligns with growing demands for sustainable building practices.

By utilising prefabricated components and local manufacturing, the project aims to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and onsite waste.

This innovative method not only accelerates the construction timeline but also sets a new standard for environmental responsibility in the hospitality sector.

As the construction industry continues to evolve, the Wyndham LUX Perth Hotel stands as a testament to the potential of innovative building technologies to create more sustainable and efficient structures.

With its world-first EPD and revolutionary construction approach, this project is poised to become a benchmark for future developments in the hospitality and construction industries.
