McNab celebrates topping out of $100m Maroochy Private Hospital

McNab has marked a pivotal construction milestone with the topping out of the $100 million Maroochy Private Hospital in Maroochydore’s CBD, accelerating the Sunshine Coast’s journey toward expanded healthcare infrastructure.

The project, a joint venture between Fortius Hospitals and Barwon Investment Partners, reached its highest structural point this month, positioning the 10-storey facility for completion in early 2026.

McNab CEO Kunjan Ganatra attributed the milestone to the dedication of over 1,000 local trades and suppliers, who overcame more than 30 days of inclement weather to keep the project four weeks ahead of schedule.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to mitigate delays and maintain productivity,” he said, highlighting the collaboration with clients, tenants, and construction partners.

Spanning 11,876 square metres, the hospital will house advanced surgical specialties, pain management, sports medicine, and allied health services.

Associate Professor Daevyd Rodda emphasised its focus on patient-centric care, noting the facility will create over 400 jobs and integrate research, clinical trials, and medical education.

“We’re shaping a space designed for connection and better outcomes,” he said.

The hospital’s design features a glazed façade with curtain-wall glazing to maximise natural light, curved glass corners, and a nine-metre-tall steel-and-aluminium fin system.

Targeting a 4-star Green Building rating, the structure incorporates solar panels, energy-efficient materials, and low-carbon construction practices.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli hailed the project as a transformative addition to the Maroochydore City Centre, aligning with the region’s vision for progressive infrastructure.

“This world-class facility will significantly expand our community’s access to advanced health services, while strengthening the Sunshine Coast as a destination of choice for progressive infrastructure and investment,” she said, referencing upcoming developments like the Athlete Village and cultural precinct.

The Maroochy Private Hospital is McNab’s second landmark project in the CBD, following the award-winning Sunshine Coast City Hall.

Once operational, it will join a network of 10 buildings in Australia’s largest greenfield CBD, reinforcing Maroochydore’s emergence as a regional hub for healthcare and economic opportunity.
