Eastwood Private Hospital achieves practical completion

Eastwood Private Hospital achieves practical completion

Eastwood Private Hospital, one of South Australia’s newest private healthcare facilities, has successfully reached the milestone of practical completion.

This achievement marks the final major construction stage of the state-of-the-art facility designed to address the growing demand for medical services in the region.

BESIX Watpac proudly led the delivery of the project, completing the technically complex build safely, on time, and in full compliance with rigorous healthcare standards.

BESIX Watpac General Manager for South Australia and Victoria, Al Crosby, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the project.

“Eastwood Private Hospital is a standout project that reflects the strength of collaboration between all parties – as well as the depth of engagement with our well-connected subcontractor networks, with 87 per cent sourced locally, over 1,600 jobs supported, and 360,000 construction hours delivered,” Crosby said.

Further demonstrating their commitment to the community, BESIX Watpac contributed $5,000 to Cancer Council SA during the construction phase through their Community Fund.

“We’re also proud to support our local community by donating $5,000 to our neighbour throughout the construction phase – Cancer Council SA – through the BESIX Watpac Community Fund.

“This contribution helps advance their vital work across the region,” said Crosby.

Located on the fringe of Adelaide’s Central Business District, Eastwood Private Hospital is poised to become a leading facility in the private healthcare sector.

Tom Patrick, Head of Healthcare Property at Barwon Investment Partners, noted the significance of the project in broadening healthcare access.

“We’re proud to see Eastwood Private Hospital move from vision to reality,” Patrick said.

“It’s an important addition to Adelaide’s private healthcare network and a reflection of our long-term commitment to supporting high-quality, accessible medical services.”

He added: “This facility will help alleviate pressure on existing services by expanding access to surgical care, and its design support a modern, patient-centred model of care.

“Barwon is pleased to partner in a project that brings meaningful benefits to both clinicians and the community.”

Acknowledging the successful delivery of the hospital, Jonathan Edelstein, Chief Executive Officer of Fortius Hospitals, praised the outcomes and partnerships forged through the project.

“Eastwood Private Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.

“We’re extremely grateful to BESIX Watpac for delivering an outstanding building that supports the growing healthcare needs of our community in Adelaide,” Edelstein said.

He continued: “This was a great opportunity to partner with a local builder, and the result is a high-quality hospital that meets every requirement for the latest healthcare.”

BESIX Watpac’s scope included design and construction of the facility, featuring a six-theatre perioperative floor, a 51-bed ward, medical imaging, and pathology services.

The work also encompassed fit-out of the ground, third, and fourth floors — housing perioperative and ward areas — as well as lobbies, corridors, a car park, plant equipment, courtyards, and external landscaping.

With practical completion achieved, Eastwood Private Hospital is now prepared to begin serving Adelaide’s local community, marking a significant enhancement to the city’s healthcare infrastructure and standing as a proud achievement for BESIX Watpac.
