The next stage of the Green Square Town Centre has been approved, marking the next phase of one of Sydney’s fastest growing neighbourhoods.
Following a comprehensive design excellence process, Smart Design Studio and CO-AP were selected as the winning architects for the four new buildings making up the next stage of the Green Square Town Centre. This stage will deliver 316 apartments, seven luxury terrace homes, ground floor retail and new activated pedestrian connections.
The next stage links Mirvac and Landcom’s recently completed OVO and Ebsworth buildings with the City of Sydney’s community projects, including the $32 million cultural precinct, aquatic centre, new green spaces and award-winning library; creating one of Sydney’s newest and arguably most liveable inner city neighbourhoods.
Future residents will enjoy green views across the new public park known as the Drying Green. Named in celebration of the site’s industrial past in the wool industry, the park is currently programmed for delivery by the City of Sydney in 2021.
Drawing on the theme of ‘parkside living’ the architects have incorporated natural elements into the buildings with landscaped open spaces, gardens, green walls and a new laneway connecting the community between Zetland Avenue and Portman Street. The Green Square Town Centre has been awarded the highest possible 6 Star Green Star Communities rating by the Green Building Council of Australia.
Mirvac’s CEO and Managing Director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said by securing development approval for the next stage of the Green Square Town Centre, they will raise the bar in apartment living, taking luxury to new heights with exceptionally designed homes, retail and communal spaces.
“Together with the public amenity being delivered by the City of Sydney, Green Square Town Centre is becoming an exciting and vibrant destination. “
“As the newest town centre for the City of Sydney in one hundred years, our attention to detail and focus on quality will ensure a vibrant community that stands the test of time for generations to come.”
The four buildings within this next stage have been planned to maximise space and outlook across the site. The breakdown of the buildings includes:
- Building A: gateway location to the town centre with a curved geometric form. 23 storeys with ground floor retail and 152 apartments
- Building B: park facing location with a green roof. 13 storeys with ground floor retail and 119 apartments
- Building C: art deco inspired design with a green wall. 13 storeys with ground floor retail and 45 apartments
- Building D: seven luxury bespoke terrace homes to complement the existing fabric and character of Portman Street
