AUSTRALIA — Broad Construction, a subsidiary of CPB Contractors and member of the CIMIC Group, has been selected by Queensland Health to construct the new Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Rockhampton Hospital.
This project is part of a significant expansion and refurbishment initiative within the Queensland Health Big Build program.
The new facility will increase the hospital’s capacity to 32 beds, including 25 general acute beds, and seven high-dependency beds.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria expressed confidence in Broad Construction’s expertise, stating: “Broad Construction is experienced in building world-class health facilities, and we’re pleased to bring this to the Queensland Health Big Build.
“This state-of-the-art facility will provide high-quality treatment and care to more people in the growing Central Queensland community.”

The Rockhampton Hospital Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit project encompasses:
- Construction of a new 32-bed acute mental health building
- Decommissioning of existing high-dependency and low-dependency units
- Refurbishment of clinical administration and support unit
- Addition of staff and visitor parking
- Creation of co-located therapy spaces
- Upgrades to support systems
The construction of the Rockhampton Hospital Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit is scheduled for completion in October 2026.
