Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities’ Chevron development in Robina, Queensland is officially underway following a sod turning ceremony on 25 April.
Multiplex has been appointed to construct the project, which comprises of 167 apartments across a 19 storey tower.
The circa $127 million project is scheduled for completion in 2025 and is expected to create around 350 construction jobs over the duration of the development and more than 100 jobs once complete.
Odyssey CEO and founder Phil Usher said the project is an extension of the Robina community and will have a number of features including restaurant dining, a swimming pool, wine cellars, cinemas and much more.
“Odyssey is built around a resort style environment that’s a perfect hybrid of retirement and aged care and this has really resonated with the wider community as well as setting an excellent precedent in the industry by demonstrating the power of putting people first.”
The apartment options will offer a mixture of one, two and three bedroom residences with additional penthouse options available for the discerning elderly as well as Memory Lane, a level dedicated to seniors with cognitive impairments.
Multiplex Regional Director Glenn Robinson said he is pleased that construction is running smoothly and on time.
“We are thrilled to be running full-steam ahead on what will become an innovative project for the Gold Coast and aged care industry,” says Mr Robinson.
“This is a special project to be part of and we are delighted to bring to life Odyssey’s vision for a world-class community for seniors.
“Care and collaboration are core values at Multiplex, and we have worked closely with Odyssey to design an outcome that will not just bring people together, but enhance lifestyles.”
Mr Usher said the Chevron Island development will be built to reflect the current living needs of seniors, based around feedback from their Robina community.
“Since Robina opened in mid 2020, we’ve learnt a lot about seniors’ living preferences and have found many residents are keen for a variety of options when it comes to space,” said Mr Usher.
“We’re delivering the ideal blend of retirement and aged care, with no waiting lists and you don’t need to move again as all the services are delivered to you as needed into your home from our dedicated on-site care team.
“This is a refreshing approach to what most people think aged care is, as you don’t need to be frail to live with us, and if you own your home now, affordability to live with us at Odyssey should be no problem.”
The Odyssey model is built around a resort style environment where couples stay together, pets are welcome, grandkids can have sleepovers and most importantly, the dignity, independence and wellbeing of residents are highly respected.
