BESIX Watpac has teamed up with local Ballarat builder H.Troon to build the $80.5million St John of God Health Care Hospital redevelopment in Ballarat, Victoria.
The first stage of the project will include a new medical services building, a new 10 bed ICU/CCU, a new Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), and four new operating theatres.
It will also have an expanded recovery room, upgraded catheterisation laboratory, and a new 30-bed in-patient ward.
St John of God Ballarat Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in regional Victoria and its redevelopment will enable St John of God Health Care to continue its history of 107 years of service to the community of the Grampians Region.
BESIX Watpac Victorian general manager Simon Ballard said: “For us the partnership was logical.

H.Troon has been building in the Ballarat region for 152 years and previously delivered a Day Oncology Centre for St John of God Ballarat Hospital.
Together BESIX Watpac and H. Troon bring a wealth of health sector experience and a focus on local employment.
Other health sector projects completed by the companies include Frankston Private Hospital extension (BESIX Watpac), Mercy Health Ballarat (H.Troon), Casey Hospital Expansion (BESIX Watpac), Ballarat Base Hospital BABACH Projects 1 and 2 (H.Troon), and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2 (BESIX Watpac).
Onsite works are due to begin5 July with project completion due for the second quarter 2024.
