Aerometrex on track with Cross River Rail project

The Cross River Rail is Queensland’s largest infrastructure project spanning 10.2 kilometres of rail line including 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and CBD. The project is expected to improve quality of life, generate thousands of jobs, activate urban development across the whole region, and help the economy keep growing. The project has been a great opportunity for State and local government to work in partnership with private industry to meet the needs of a very broad range of stakeholders. Through its “Project DNA”, which stands for “Digital Network Approach”, the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA) made a commitment to put digital modelling at the centre of everything it does. Step one of that process was to work with the government to obtain a detailed 3D model of the full length and breadth of the core project rail line, tunnel and stat... more

Zero emissions Mini. So quiet it gives JCB something to shout about

JCB has made company history with the unveiling of its first ever electric excavator – the quietest digger in its range and one delivering zero emissions. The brand new JCB 19C-1 E-TEC mini excavator has been developed in top secret at JCB’s World HQ in Staffordshire. With the drive towards lower emissions, the zero-emission JCB 19C-1 E-TEC will allow contractors to work inside buildings and in emissions-sensitive inner city environments. It will also allow rail contractors to operate in tunnels and underground, without having to install costly exhaust extraction equipment. Another huge advantage of the new electric mini is that the external noise, at 7dBA lower, is a massive five times quieter than its traditional diesel powered counterpart. This means contractors can work after normal hours in urban streets without disturbing residents, as well operating in other noise sensit... more

Revolutionary technology to optimise sanitary drainage in high-rise buildings

Over 1000 members of the global plumbing community witnessed the launch of Geberit SuperTube technology at the recent World Plumbing Conference 2019 held in Melbourne, Australia. This revolutionary technology is designed to optimise sanitary drainage in high-rise buildings. Maximising usable space and reduction of material usage is an increasingly important consideration in the design and construction of high-rise residential and commercial buildings. Conventional building drainage systems occupy large pockets of valuable space and require substantial amounts of material due to additional ventilation pipes. Geberit SuperTube is the next evolution in building drainage providing significant space gains in high-rise offices, hotels and multi-storey residential buildings owing to its innovative, high-capacity and minimalistic design. Three sophisticated fittings form the optimal combin... more

Above and beyond with Amplimesh

Perth’s new Optus Stadium has received national attention, not only for being a world-class stadium, but also for its commitment to transport more than 100,000 fans to and from the stadium through a modern train network. The East Perth Train Station platform is a key part of the developed stadium precinct area and uses an advanced pedestrian overpass fitted with Amplimesh Security Screens to help cope with masses of sports and event patrons. Project Architect Peter Rouhliadeff from HASSELL said the station design brief aimed to create a double sided and shaded breezeway with clear sightlines to the platform and station precinct below. “Substituting the glazed panels with full height mesh security screens was key to achieving this design outcome,” he said. “The screens allowed us to minimise the extent of glazing to the station pedestrian overpass and concourse, reducing damage... more
