John Kinsella AM, Managing Director and co-founder of Billbergia, has been named the Urban Taskforce Property Person of the Year for 2024.
The prestigious award, announced by Urban Taskforce Executive Committee Chair David Ghannoum, recognises Kinsella’s outstanding contributions to the property development sector over the past 36 years.
Kinsella, who founded Billbergia with his brother William in 1988, has been lauded for his leadership in ambitious place-making projects that have transformed entire Sydney suburbs.
Under his guidance, Billbergia has completed 2,500 new apartments in the past three years and has a forward pipeline of over 10,000 apartments on land it already owns.
Urban Taskforce Chief Executive Tom Forrest highlighted Billbergia’s achievements in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
The company has consistently delivered buildings that exceed National Construction Code standards and created communities with leading amenities.
Billbergia has also earned the iCIRT “trustworthy developer” accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to quality and reliability.

The company has established three partnerships with Homes NSW, delivering mixed-tenure projects that combine social, affordable, and market housing.
These initiatives are set to provide new homes for over 3,500 residents near existing railway stations.
