One of the last sites in Fitzroy’s exclusive Gore Street will soon be host to an exclusive collection of designer residences, representing the peak of inner-Melbourne lifestyle.
The seven-storey development, Fitzroy Ltd, will showcase a raw and refined materiality, perfectly embodying the chic style that Fitzroy is known for. Located at 250 Gore Street, the development will feature several one, two and three-bedroom apartments, along with a luxurious full-floor penthouse. Developer SMA Projects have partnered with award-winning architecture firm Hayball, to ensure that the architectural design effortlessly synthesises with the established tree-lined streetscape and the immediate urban context of the area.
The cool, industrial tones of Fitzroy Ltd’s exterior will feature high-quality materials such as bluestone and metal accents, with textured brickwork that has been designed to fully complement neighbouring Victorian terraces. The building’s roof will offer a private oasis which gives residents a chance to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. With sweeping views of Melbourne’s skyline, the rooftop includes outdoor dining and leisure facilities such as a BBQ, firepit and open garden. Individual terraces will also incorporate outdoor living areas and create a peaceful transition from indoor to outdoor space. A select few residences will also offer classic New York-style walk-down entrances with a private garden.
Renowned interior designer Kate Roach has drafted a ‘soft palette’ for the Fitzroy Ltd interiors, selecting materials such as glass and burnished metal to ensure light and reflection are optimised within the space. Each apartment will boast a bright, open plan kitchen which highlights the grey, earthy undertones evident throughout the building.
Roach said that she took on a deliberate, design-focused approach to Fitzroy Ltd, ensuring the interiors offer a point of difference to what is currently on the market.
“When considering the interiors for Fitzroy Ltd, I was inspired by the sense of place and the people who wanted to live there. I wanted to take a more classic direction to ensure we celebrated Fitzroy’s unpretentious ‘cool,’” she said, “the suite of materials we’ve chosen for Fitzroy Ltd have created a more discerning finish that is less overt and celebrates the natural and untreated aesthetic of the Fitzroy neighbourhood.”
Demolition is scheduled to begin in December 2018, with construction anticipated to commence in early 2019, and finalisation expected by December 2020.
