Construction of the $45 million redevelopment of CS Square in Melbourne’s west has commenced. CS Square will expand by 6,500 square metres, reinforcing the Centre’s reputation as one of the leading shopping destinations for the Melton area.
Lendlease’s Head of Retail Gary Horwitz said he was thrilled to start the new year with an exciting redevelopment that will enhance the retail offer to the Melton community.
“The CS Square development will strengthen the position of the Centre through an additional diversified retail mix while delivering to customers convenience and greater supermarket choice,” Mr Horwitz said.
“The project will stimulate the local economy by boosting employment and creating further opportunities for retailers in one of Melbourne’s growing population corridors.”
Customers will enjoy a Woolworths supermarket, large format discount store, car wash, more than 10 specialty stores and expanded amenities with a new parents’ room.
Enhanced pedestrian access near Aldi and additional car parking spaces on the vacant land north of CS Square are also planned, bringing total customer parking to more than 1,100 car spaces.
To mark the commencement of construction, guest of honour and City of Melton Mayor Cr Bob Turner joined representatives from Lendlease and Australian Prime Property Fund Retail (APPF Retail) to participate in a sod turning ceremony on the site of the future car park.
Lendlease has an outstanding track record in retail delivery and sustainability and will design, project manage and construct the project. Lendlease’s extensive experience in managing construction works in live retail environments will enable CS Square to continue to trade and operate safely during expansion.
CS Square is owned by the Lendlease-managed APPF Retail.
Located in Caroline Springs, CS Square has served the Melton community since 2004. The Centre features approximately 60 quality stores including major retailers Target, Coles, Aldi, First Choice Liquor and The Reject Shop.
