Leading Australian property group TOGA and partner Danias Group have announced the Development Application (DA) has been approved for ‘Wicks Place’, the first residential project in the transformation of Marrickville’s Victoria Road Precinct in Sydney.
With over 40 years of history in the area, the family-run Danias Group has partnered with TOGA to deliver 272 apartments across five buildings with boutique retail, commercial spaces, and direct access to the adjacent Wicks Park.
The development will feature a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments with large terraces, green spaces and a private communal outdoor area on level one.
CEO of TOGA, Fabrizio Perilli, said their vision for Wicks Place is to create a thriving urban community that embraces the unique culture of Marrickville.
“Partnering with Danias allows us to leverage their extensive knowledge and understanding of the area to build homes that complement the suburb and future resident’s needs.”
Wicks Place is anchored by a 2,500 square metre public precinct on the ground floor which will include a diverse mix of retail and commercial spaces, opening up the laneway integration with Wicks Park.
The site sits within the wider Victoria Road Precinct, which will incorporate flexible and innovative spaces for a variety of creative industries, start-ups and the arts.
“Marrickville has become a unique and desirable destination for Sydney, and it will arguably become Sydney’s coolest metro suburb. Wicks Place, alongside the wider Victoria Road Precinct, will create a vibrant new community and residential offering for the area as it continues to evolve,” Perilli said.
At the Victoria Road Precinct, Danias will deliver a diverse range of new housing, increased employment, new creative industry hubs, new parklands and community spaces.
CEO of Danias Holdings, Angelo Angelopoulos, said they’ve been working for many years to carefully plan and deliver a vibrant, mixed-use community and the approval brings their vision a step closer to being realised.
“Elements such as the recently launched Timberyards project will ensure that there are accessible and affordable spaces for artists and entrepreneurs, all fostering the future success of the area. We are excited and honoured to be championing the next phase of revitalisation for the suburb,” Angelopoulos commented.
The site provides seamless connectivity with a variety of transport options, including close proximity to the new metropolitan train line, Sydenham Station and the Victoria Road bus corridor.
Construction on Wicks Place is set to commence in August 2020 and is forecast to be complete by late 2022.
