SHAWOOD, the premium homebuilding brand of 4-star iCIRT-accredited developer Sekisui House Australia, has officially opened the $4.8 million Irongum Terrace Reserve in Norwest, Sydney.
Spanning 9,553 square metres, this new green space provides essential recreational amenities to the rapidly growing Hills Shire community and marks a significant milestone in SHAWOOD’s entry into Sydney’s North-West housing market.
Hironobu Seto, Group CEO & Managing Director of Sekisui House Australia, emphasised the park’s importance within the broader Asora Norwest Masterplan.
“Delivering this great space for the community at Asora Norwest highlights Sekisui House’s ongoing commitment to creating sustainable communities that improve residents’ lives,” he stated.
“We’re thrilled to hand the park over to the Hills Shire Council and welcome the community to enjoy this new space.
“It marks a significant milestone in our masterplan development and is testament to our focus on community amenities to support the growing local population.”
Located in Norwest, one of Sydney’s fastest-growing suburbs, Irongum Terrace Reserve addresses the increasing demand for premium outdoor spaces as the Hills Shire population is projected to grow by nearly 70 per cent by 2046.
Developed in partnership with The Hills Shire Council through a Voluntary Planning Agreement, the park was designed by Site Image, landscaped by Co-ordinated Landscapes, and constructed with civil works completed by Devcon.
The reserve offers a variety of facilities designed to foster social interaction and outdoor activity, including:
- A state-of-the-art children’s playground
- Sheltered picnic areas
- Landscaped gardens
- Walking paths
- Open lawns
Sustainability is central to its design, featuring an underground stormwater detention system, bioretention gardens for natural water filtration, and extensive native landscaping.
Over 30 mature trees have been preserved to provide shade, support local wildlife, and mitigate urban heat effects — aligning with The Hills Shire Council’s environmental goals.
Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne celebrated the park’s opening: “It’s wonderful to see the fences come down so that Hills residents can enjoy this wonderful new park.
“The Irongum Terrace Reserve is a fantastic addition to our network of parks and public spaces to be enjoyed by Hills families for generations to come.”
The park’s unveiling coincides with the completion of SHAWOOD’s first homes in Norwest as part of Stage One of the Asora Norwest Masterplan.
This initial phase includes four homes, with an additional 20 land lots scheduled for release later this year.
With the successful launch of Irongum Terrace Reserve and continued development under the Asora Norwest Masterplan, Sekisui House Australia reaffirms its dedication to building vibrant communities that balance modern living with environmental stewardship.
