The Queensland government has released the draft Rosslyn Bay State Boat Harbour Master Plan for public consultation, giving locals and industry stakeholders opportunity to shape the future of one of Central Queensland’s most important maritime precincts.
Situated near Yeppoon, Rosslyn Bay State Boat Harbour serves as an important gateway for regional tourism, commercial and recreational boating, marine businesses, and transport access to Great Keppel Island.
The draft master plan sets out a long-term vision to expand facilities, including additional car and boat trailer parking, and modernise infrastructure to keep pace with growing demand along the Capricorn Coast.
Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the master plan represents a critical step in revitalising regional maritime assets following years of inaction.
“Rosslyn Bay is a key Capricorn Coast asset, supporting local maritime industries, powering regional tourism and connecting locals and visitors to the Keppel Islands,” Mickelberg said.
“As demand continues to grow, we need a clear and practical plan to ensure the harbour continues to support local jobs, businesses and the community for decades to come.”
Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton encouraged residents and business owners to take part in the process to ensure the final blueprint reflects local needs.
“This is about planning ahead and making sure the harbour continues to meet the needs of our growing community through expanded facilities, including more car and trailer parks, as well as helping the government identify new opportunities,” Hutton said.
The consultation period runs from August 19 to September 20, with community feedback directly informing the final master plan scheduled for completion late this year.
