PACT Construction has won the competitive tender to build the next stage of the Western Australian Government’s flagship secondary school, Bob Hawke College.

The first stage of the brand-new secondary school, adjacent to Subiaco Oval, was completed by PACT last year ahead of schedule.

The circa $40 million project will see the addition of spaces for students to showcase their creative talents, including a performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, music rooms and two state-of-the-art media studios. It will also enable the school’s capacity to double to 2,000 students.

“It goes without saying that we are very pleased to continue the work on this iconic building,” said Jason Thomson, PACT’s General Manager.

“It was a very competitive tender against three other respected builders, so to win it and have our success in Stage One recognised is very important to us.”

PACT Construction has already received multiple awards for Bob Hawke College, Stage One, including the 2020 Master Builders Excellence in Construction and the Major Project Contractor Award 2020 from the Department of Finance.

Hassell Studio has been appointed to consult on the design for the project, with construction set to commence in April 2021. Facilities are expected to open for the 2023 school year. Overall, the project is forecast to generate approximately 1,650 jobs.
