A North Sydney apartment tower built by a leading Australian developer has been awarded a top prize at this year’s 2017 Master Builders Australia (MBA) NSW Excellence in Construction Awards.
Skye by Crown Group, a project by multi-award winning Australian developer Crown Group, was named a winner in the “Residential and Mixed-use Development Buildings, Open Price” category during an event at Sydney’s The Star on Saturday night.
Designed by world-renowned Japanese-Australian architect Koichi Takada, the 20-storey building features 242 apartments, an expansive foyer, ground-floor retail outlets, a top-floor gym and infinity-edged rooftop pool with stunning views over North Sydney.
Crown Group Chairman and Group CEO Iwan Sunito said the prestigious MBA Excellence in Construction Awards are among the industry’s most prestigious awards, and Crown Group was thrilled to see Skye by Crown Group recognised as the winner of the top prize.
The building features many elements which set it apart from other new developments in the area, he said.
“Crown Group’s vision for Skye by Crown was to create an icon in Sydney for decades to come,” Mr Sunito said.
“This award is a testament to Crown Group’s desire to create unique developments which will stand the test of time,” he said.
Located in North Sydney, Skye by Crown Group aims to provide its residents a mixed-use urban lifestyle.
The iconic high-rise building features a pedestrian through-site link providing a public access between Pacific Highway and Angelo Street and a curved vertical ‘veil’ enveloping the building’s exterior.
“When we launched Skye by Crown Group in 2013 I envisioned it would become a vibrant architectural sculpture in North Sydney home to more than one hundred new residents, and today that vision is a reality,” Mr Sunito said.
“Skye by Crown Group has been an exceptional project from the start to finish, from its hugely successful sales launch through to completion,” he added.
Judged by an expert industry panel, winners were selected based on quality of finished construction, degree of difficulty in construction, materials used, environmental and safety protocols, outcomes achieved and benefits to the community.
The infinity rooftop pool was also one of many standout features of Skye by Crown Group, which had already become an architectural centrepiece of North Sydney, said Mr Sunito.
Inspired by the world’s best five-star hotel swimming pools such as the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, the 25m rooftop pool sits alongside a luxury residents’ gym and lounge and is fringed by an expansive timber deck and tropical plants.
Construction of Skye by Crown Group was completed in 2016.
