A new government secondary school is set to open in Clyde North, with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) confirming that Clyde Creek North Secondary School (interim name) will welcome its first cohort of Grade Seven students from Day One of Term One in 2026.
The school, located at 440 Heather Grove within Frasers Property Australia’s Five Farms community, will eventually accommodate up to 550 students once all stages are complete.
Construction is already underway, with the design led by Architectus.
Key facilities will be ready for the first cohort of students on day one of first term 2026, with remaining facilities expected to be finished by term two.
The school will include a science building, technology building and library and administration building as well as a learning neighbourhood, sports field, hard courts and car park.
The school will initially open to Year Seven students, adding a new year level each subsequent year.
Clyde Creek North Secondary School will be the second school within Five Farms, following the opening of St Josephine Bakhita Primary School earlier this year, which offers places for up to 700 students.
Nick Hamer-Smith, who brings 24 years of experience in government schools and expertise in special needs education, has been appointed as principal. His most recent role was co-principal of Glen Eira College.
Frasers Property Australia’s General Manager for Development in Victoria, Sarah Bloom, highlighted the significance of the new school for the growing community.
“We have an established series of programs and events to help people connect to their neighbours and form friendships, and the opening of the second of two new schools is really going to supercharge that process,” she said.
“We know that schools can really become a focal point for a community so we couldn’t be more excited for Clyde Creek North Secondary School (interim name) to open its doors.”
Local resident Vlad Kasy praised the sense of community fostered at Five Farms, saying: “Here, people gather together and that is what I really wanted to see, a real community.
“Since we’ve moved in there’s been some really nice events which we’ve been invited to. The local community is open and inclusive, and I’m excited to see what’s next.”
Five Farms, located 54 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, is planned to eventually include 1,600 homes and a proposed town centre, alongside existing amenities such as Silo Park, an inclusive Livvi’s Place playground, and the Allendale Residents’ Club.
Land lots and house-and-land packages are currently available for purchase within the community.
