The new AU$63.6 million Laverton Hospital has reached a key milestone with the building now connected to mains power.
This milestone marks the transition from heavy structural works to the internal fit-out phase.
With the site now powered up, contractors have commenced the installation of internal walls, ceiling framing, and external cladding.
Glass installation is also well underway as the building begins to take its final shape.
The project is part of the government’s record AU$4.9 billion health infrastructure program, which aims to build new hospitals and upgrade ageing ones across the state.
Once operational, the new Laverton Hospital will move beyond traditional hospital services.
The contemporary multidisciplinary design includes modern emergency, purpose-built spaces for outpatient services, including community and mental health.
The hospital will also have specialist suites to support visiting clinicians and room for an onsite private general practice clinic.
Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey said: “Our government is rolling out a record AU$4.9 billion health infrastructure program, including the delivery of new hospitals and major hospital redevelopments in remote and regional WA.
“The delivery of a new hospital for Laverton will ensure residents can receive care in a contemporary space and it’s great to see the new build powered up and internal works underway.”
The project is being delivered by ADCO Constructions, supported by a AU$16.8 million contribution from the federal government’s Community Health and Hospitals Program.
Health Minister Meredith Hammat said: “This new facility will provide a significant boost to healthcare for the Eastern Goldfields community.
“It will allow us to support more residents to access care on Country, or closer to where they live, and it will support our healthcare workers to deliver that care in a modern, fit-for-purpose environment.”
