Construction has begun on two major school projects in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs, addressing the area’s rapid population growth.
The projects include a new two-storey teaching block at Caversham Valley Primary School and Stage 2 of the Brabham Primary School kindergarten and pre-primary centre.
The $12.3 million facility at Caversham Valley Primary School will accommodate an additional 300 students and is expected to be completed next year.
It will feature 10 general classrooms, a science classroom, staff offices, learning spaces, toilets, storage, and a new landscaped courtyard with an adjoining play area.
Stage 2 of the Brabham Primary School offsite kindergarten and pre-primary centre is scheduled to open for the 2025 school year.
These projects are part of a larger education infrastructure program in the area, which includes:
- The $37.36 million Stage 2 of Brabham Primary School’s permanent accommodation, is set to open in 2025.
- The $39.9 million Brabham East Primary School, currently under construction, will accommodate 540 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in 2025.
- A $16.6 million new double-storey building at Anne Hamersley Primary School, is anticipated to open in 2025.
- New facilities at Caversham Primary School, with planning underway for a $26.5 million facility to accommodate up to 300 students.
These projects are part of the Western Australian government’s $4.4 billion investment in new and improved school infrastructure across the state.
Education Minister Dr Tony Buti stated: “We are investing in these facilities to accommodate rapid growth in the area.
“These new and modern facilities will complement the already outstanding schools in the area and will meet the needs of students and local families now and in the future.”
West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti added: “Our north-eastern suburbs continue to grow rapidly, and we continue to do everything we can to ensure local families have access to state-of-the-art education facilities close to home.”
