First InterContinental Brisbane now officially open

InterContinental Brisbane now officially open

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand and a key part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has officially opened the doors to its inaugural Brisbane hotel — InterContinental Brisbane.

Located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD on Elizabeth Street within the city’s luxury shopping precinct, the 319-room property promises a new era of cultural discovery and service excellence for guests.

“We are incredibly proud to now have a footprint in one of Australia’s most dynamic and fast-growing cities and are excited to welcome our first guests through our doors,” said InterContinental Brisbane’s General Manager, Shaun Parsons.

“To be part of Brisbane’s transformation ahead of the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics is a privilege, particularly in helping to shape its tourism and hospitality scene by offering an exciting, culturally rich stay experience for local and international guests alike.”

The hotel, occupying 25 floors, features sophisticated rooms and suites with panoramic city views, exceptional event facilities — including 19 meeting rooms and one of Brisbane’s largest ballrooms — an outdoor lap pool, gymnasium, and the new Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen, which serves as the hotel’s all-day restaurant and lobby bar.

The property’s newly introduced Club InterContinental lounge on the 25th floor provides guests with sweeping river city vistas and exclusive experiences like personalised check-in, twilight drinks and canapés, and complimentary daily breakfast.

Looking ahead, InterContinental Brisbane is set to undergo a significant two-year transformation in 2026, aiming to elevate the guest experience with innovation, diversity, and cultural discovery, while honouring the building’s architectural heritage designed by acclaimed modernist architect Harry Seidler.

The renovation forms part of ISPT’s larger vision to reimagine the Elizabeth Street precinct as a vibrant hub integrating world-class tourism, entertainment, and dining within Brisbane’s CBD.

With the launch of this landmark hotel, InterContinental now operates three flagship properties across Queensland — including InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast — further cementing its role as a leader in luxury hospitality in the region.

Guests staying at InterContinental Brisbane will discover the brand’s hallmarks of worldly elegance, personalised service, and cultural connection, with contemporary luxury, immersive local touches, and intuitive hospitality designed to inspire and feel effortlessly like home.

IHG Hotels & Resorts now operates 69 hotels across Australasia under nine brands, with another 26 properties in the development pipeline — further strengthening its commitment to redefining the region’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality landscape.
