GURNER secures approval for $800m luxury residential project in Sydney

GURNER secures approval for $800m luxury residential project in Sydney

Multi-billion-dollar developer GURNER has received planning approval for its revised $800 million residential towers at 189 Kent Street, marking a significant milestone in the company’s first Sydney project.

The City of Sydney has given the green light to the modified plans, which were submitted in March as an adjustment to the existing development approval.

The project, situated on the final Freehold Land Title Site in the broader Barangaroo precinct, aims to set a new standard for luxury living in Sydney’s inner city.

The revised plans focus on maximising the offering of each residence, resulting in a reduction of total residences from 125 to 91, with an emphasis on providing more three-bedroom options.

The development will feature a maximum of one to two residences per level, ensuring privacy and larger floorplates.

Plans include two dual-level penthouses, a sky pool and terrace, private dining, business lounge, valet and concierge services.

An ultra-luxe wellness area, a signature of GURNER developments, will also be incorporated into the project.

GURNER has partnered with award-winning design practice FJC Studio to lead the architecture of 189 Kent Street, blending the developer’s signature aesthetic with creative flair.

Tim Gurner, Founder and Executive Chairman of GURNER, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “This is our first project in Sydney and we are going to ensure it is something truly world-class, and that we are offering a level of 6-star luxury, amenity and service that has not been offered before in Sydney.”

With the plans now approved, GURNER is setting its sights on the public launch and commencement of works on-site, both anticipated to occur in 2025.

The developer reports overwhelming interest in the project, even before formal discussions about the launch have begun.

As the last Freehold site in the Barangaroo area, this development represents a unique opportunity for a select group of buyers seeking the ultimate luxury living experience in the heart of Sydney.
