Joint venture partners Abadeen Group and PERIFA have revealed ambitious plans for a $240 million mixed-use development on a historic waterfront site in Putney, Sydney.
The project, named Putney Wharf Residences (PWR), will transform the former Halvorsen Boat Shed precinct into a vibrant residential and commercial hub.
The 1.58-hectare site at 20 Waterview Street boasts 300 metres of absolute water frontage on the Parramatta River.
The development will feature luxury apartments, townhouses, waterfront dining, retail spaces, and a 36-berth marina.
Abadeen Group’s Executive Chairman Justin Brown emphasised the project’s unique appeal: “Putney Wharf Residences presents an extraordinary opportunity to transform this rare waterfront site into a dynamic mixed-use wharf precinct featuring bespoke retail, waterfront dining and luxury residential — akin to Woolloomooloo Wharf.”
Designed by acclaimed Sydney architects SJB, the residential component will comprise a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments and townhouses.
The development is expected to attract high-net-worth local professional families seeking waterfront living with premium amenities.
A key feature of PWR is the adaptive reuse of the landmark Halvorsen’s boatshed, which has a rich history dating back to the 1930s.
The site was once home to one of Australia’s first breweries in the 1790s and later became a significant boat-building location.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2027, bringing new life to this long-disused waterfront site and creating a desirable destination for residents and visitors alike.
