Sydney’s historic Putney Wharf has entered a new chapter as joint venture partners Abadeen, PERIFA (part of Versatile Group), Phoenix Property Investors, and Mitsubishi Estate Asia break ground on their $350 million mixed-use waterfront development.
The project, managed by Versatile Construction, marks a milestone in revitalising the heritage-listed Halvorsen’s Boatshed site into a luxury residential and lifestyle precinct.
The development has already secured $170 million in apartment sales, with the majority of its initial release sold.
Further releases of 18 four-bedroom Waterview Terraces and remaining residences are slated for late 2025, with prices for three-bedroom apartments starting at $3.9 million and terraces from $4.5 million.
A rare 246sqm penthouse in the restored Halvorsen’s Boatshed, featuring 180-degree harbour views, remains available.
Designed by SJB Architects alongside heritage specialists Curio Projects and landscape architects Dangar Barin Smith, the project will deliver:
- The Halvorsen’s Apartments: 19 oversized residences in the restored boatshed
- Waterview Terraces: 18 four-bedroom, three-storey terraces
- The Residences: 30 apartments across two new buildings.
The development retains the original timber structure of the 1939 boatshed while introducing modern waterfront dining, retail spaces, and a 36-berth marina.
Versatile Group CEO Marco Fahd emphasised the project’s significance: “We’re preserving history while creating an extraordinary precinct for Putney.”
PERIFA’s Fabrizio Perilli highlighted the focus on community impact, while Abadeen’s Joe Tack praised stakeholders for their support in realising this “highly unique project”.
City of Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown joined the ceremonial commencement, which opened with a Welcome to Country.
The project’s 300-metre harbour frontage and private beach access are expected to redefine Putney’s appeal, with completion targeted for early 2027.
Interested buyers can register for upcoming releases through CBRE Residential Projects.
