Construction begins on new $330m Eurobodalla Regional Hospital

The New South Wales government has officially commenced construction on the new $330 million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, marking a significant milestone in healthcare delivery for New South Wales’ south coast communities.

This level four facility is set to transform medical services in the region, offering expanded and enhanced care options compared to the existing Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined.

The state-of-the-art hospital will feature a range of advanced medical services, including:

  • An emergency department with increased capacity
  • An eight-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Close Observation Unit (COU), the first of its kind in the Eurobodalla region
  • Expanded chemotherapy and renal dialysis services
  • Surgical and operating theatres with a day-stay surgical unit
  • Advanced medical imaging, including the area’s first public MRI service
  • Ambulatory care for community outpatient services
  • Paediatric and maternity services with a special care nursery
  • Mental health beds for short-term admissions
  • Enhanced education and training facilities, including a simulation laboratory

Premier Chris Minns emphasised the importance of this project, stating: “As the South Coast continues to grow, this new hospital will play a critical role in the NSW government’s plan to rebuild essential services and health care in the region.”

Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park highlighted the significance of the investment, saying: “Our $330 million investment in critical health infrastructure in Eurobodalla will make a monumental difference to the community there for generations to come.”

The project, which follows years of community advocacy, is being built by Multiplex and is expected to be completed in 2027.

It represents a key component of the state government’s $3.4 billion investment in upgrading hospitals and health facilities across New South Wales for 2024-2025.

Community members and local businesses interested in working on the project are encouraged to attend an upcoming employment information session with Multiplex.

Details will be available on the project website.
