State-of-the-art learning and teaching hubs will form key elements of the new Inner City South State Secondary College in Dutton Park’s knowledge precinct.
Deputy Premier and Member for South Brisbane, Jackie Trad has released the new concept master plan and designs for the new high school and is inviting community feedback.
The Brisbane-based team of architects and consultants who came up with the stand-out designs, BVN Architecture, were appointed to the project in late 2018.
Ms Trad said the concept master plan for the new state high school is a key milestone, bringing the project to life through the design of contemporary learning centres set around an inspiring outdoor learning plaza that will form the heart of the school site.
“The learning plaza will become the central gathering space at the school and provides a strong sense of community in this inner-urban context,” she said.
“This game-changing project is part of the Queensland Government’s $800 million Building Future Schools Fund.”
Members of the community have already been heavily involved in the project and have provided several helpful ideas and suggestions which guided the concepts and designs.
Ms Trad said the community would continue to play a vital role in the development of the school.
“I encourage the local community to take the time to look at the concept drawings and images and provide their thoughts and feedback. This will shape the detailed design that the design team will finalise in coming months,” concluded Ms Trad.
Stage One of the new high school is expected to be completed in time for foundation Year 7 students to commence in Term 1 of 2021, with the school continuing to grow one level each year through to 2026 when the school will offer Year 7 to Year 12.
Community feedback sessions will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday 23 April 2019: 5.30pm – 7.00pm (Dutton Park State School library)
- Saturday 27 April 2019: 10.00am – 12.00pm (Gair Park)
- Saturday 4 May 2019: 12.00pm – 2.00pm (Gair Park).
